mrontemp: The Strange Case of Irving Dart Tressler

  • Marco · 1 year ago
What a great post! I am proud to say that Carnegie has had a major impact on my life and I find myself picking "How it Win Friends.." up ever couple of years and being shocked and dismayed how easy it is for me to forget so many of the great lessons it contains.

Thanks for taking the time to track all that info down!

Pretty silly guy. I'm a Dale Carnegie graduate too; the first set of principles are all about becoming sincerely more interested in the interests and concerns of others. Seems like he's just saying "No."

Irving Dart Tressler was my Great Uncle and while he did commit suicide, his reasons for doing so were because of seriously declining physical health, not mental health reasons. His writings, though usually humourous, were not always negative and include a number of other books and regular features in Scribner's Magazine.

Ben, thanks for the information. Sometimes physical ailments can make
    one feel helpless.

Ben, did he ever go by "mr. stuff'"?
