I am truly surprised there have been no comments. That Solzhenitsyn predicted with stunning accuracy the decline and fall of America should have sparked a few comments. He hit the nail when he said the problem is a collapse of moral values. We are a nation that produces nothing but lies, running around the world in our arrogance dropping bombs here and there and everywhere, as our God given right. Not all Americans are psycopathic morons, just our reps and leaders, and our agencies. I have met some very good, decent people, but sadly their views are not considered. However, I wonder what Solzhenitsyn would say about our psycopathic leader challenging Putin to a showdown because Putin isn't going to allow America to come into its territory and set up a neo-Nazi puppet government. We bear a lot of resemblance to Stalin's Russia.

Growing up, my father called Tressler's book "The family Bible." He would sit at the dining room table, with us all gathered around, and read it out loud to us, with tears streaming down his face from laughng so hard. Many years have passed, and my father passed away years ago. In adulthood I have taken a Dale Carnigie course, but I still find that "How to Loose Friends..." has served me just as well, if not better than the Carnigie course! Thank you Mr. Tressler!

I hope that this note finds you. I ran across your Uncle's book in an antique store. My family finds it extremely hilarious. Your Uncle wrote in such a witty fashion. I am sorry to hear about his declining health and death; I would have liked to read more of what his brain conjured up on print.

The whole nitrogen thing is an urban legend. Since there's already 78% nitrogen in the atmosphere, adding a couple more percentage points won't make any difference whatsoever to the life of the tire, or its performance. Or anything else.

I knew Annie, (Kendal,
Tressler) Foote from Mendocino before she died. I have several of
her silk screen paintings.

Irv was a wonderful man and
she told me all about his suicide.

Ironically, the drugs that
would fully control the epilepsy that he suffered from were common
within about a year of his death. She told me that the common belief
in those days was that epilepsy was a mental disorder. Everybody
kept telling him that he was mentally ill.

At one point we had nearly
all of Irv's books. I didn't like How to Lose Friends and Alienate
People nearly as much as With Malice Toward All. Sitting around a
table at her house in Mendocino with a glass of wine in hand Annie
laughed when I asked her which was it, a green and yellow basket or a
blue and yellow basket. For those of you reading this post who have
no idea what I am talking about go find the book and read it.

in my opinion i honestly enjoy watching horse racing videos on some video sites but i also agree and think that these horses that are used to race are the most animals i took pity on cause i know that even if they are taken care by their trainers, still when they race they experience pain and they can feel the danger of being literally killed in the race field. i read an article that says horses are really meant to run so its just normal for them to be on a race but as i can see how could they say that if they are forced to run faster by beating them?
i am into horse racing for fun but not for animal abuse and gambling.

The persons using that contra-historical oxymoron (demonstrated by the eminent late Oxford historian, James Parkes, The Conflict of the Church and the Synagogue) exposes dependancy upon 4th-century, gentile, Hellenist sources.

While scholars debate the provenance of the original accounts upon which the earliest extant (4th century, even fragments are post-135 C.E.), Roman gentile, Hellenist-redacted versions were based, there is not one fragment, not even one letter of the NT that derives DIRECTLY from the 1st-century Pharisee Jews who followed the Pharisee Ribi Yehoshua.
Historians like Parkes, et al., have demonstrated incontestably that 4th-century Roman Christianity was the 180° polar antithesis of 1st-century Judaism of ALL Pharisee Ribis. The earliest (post-135 C.E.) true Christians were viciously antinomian (ANTI-Torah), claiming to supersede and displace Torah, Judaism and ("spiritual) Israel and Jews. In soberest terms, ORIGINAL Christianity was anti-Torah from the start while DSS (viz., 4Q MMT) and ALL other Judaic documentation PROVE that ALL 1st-century Pharisees were PRO-Torah.

There is a mountain of historical Judaic information Christians have refused to deal with, at: www.netzarim.co.il (see, especially, their History Museum pages beginning with "30-99 C.E.").
Original Christianity = ANTI-Torah. Ribi Yehoshua and his Netzarim, like all other Pharisees, were PRO-Torah. Intractable contradiction.

Building a Roman image from Hellenist hearsay accounts, decades after the death of the 1st-century Pharisee Ribi, and after a forcible ouster, by Hellenist Roman gentiles, of his original Jewish followers (135 C.E., documented by Eusebius), based on writings of a Hellenist Jew excised as an apostate by the original Jewish followers (documented by Eusebius) is circular reasoning through gentile-Roman Hellenist lenses.

What the historical Pharisee Ribi taught is found not in the hearsay accounts of post-135 C.E. Hellenist Romans but, rather, in the Judaic descriptions of Pharisees and Pharisee Ribis of the period... in Dead Sea Scroll 4Q MMT (see Prof. Elisha Qimron), inter alia.

To all Christians: The question is, now that you've been informed, will you follow the authentic historical Pharisee Ribi? Or continue following the post-135 C.E. Roman-redacted antithesis—an idol?

A better question would be "Did Socrates exist?" That way it would be a closer approximation to the historical Jesus:-

Their teachings are reported second hand. In Socrates' case via Plato, Xenophon, Aristotle and Aristophanes.

Many details of Socrates' life, his teachings and his character are controversial - it is even reasonable to ask if Socrates actually existed. Many late Platonic dialogues are possibly of a heavily-fictionalised Socrates used as a mouthpiece for Plato's own ideas...
